Scribing is the art of capturing a conversation in real time. It's a bit like performance art and a bit like translating into another language (except that language is cartoons). Scribing is a great communicative tool for businesses and organizations to use. Aside from clarifying or emphasizing a point being made, used in an open discussion it's an amazing way for individuals in a conversation to feel as though they have been heard when they can see their ideas come alive on a marker board.

When I scribe, I usually work on large dry erase walls behind a speaker or in front of a group that's having a conversation. When marker boards are not available I am able to capture what is being communicated on foam boards. Many of my clients have used my creations on boards as a way to communicate to others their goals, project objectives, and commitment to an initiative. I listen and I draw the essence of what I hear.

Through scribing I've gotten to work with some amazing individuals and have been able to experience dozens of industries. When possible, I also get to teach groups either a basic understanding of drawing or I instruct them on how to use simple iconography to better communicate concepts within their organization.
