The Mend the Home show was awesome. This is the second year we’ve done the
Hip Hop Helps Heal (H4) show at the Bone and both times it was just out of
this world. This event focused on raising money for
Genesis Women’s Shelter.
The organization exists to provide quality safety and shelter to battered
women and their children through crisis intervention and short term crisis
therapeutics and to reduce the occurrence of violence against women and
children in the greater Dallas area. All of our artists from every medium
were proud to be a part of this event. We had an amazing collection of talented people contributing to this show. Trayce was painting the night away. He’s been |

doing a lot of shows with us lately and has been a great
addition to the crew. His talent, both visually and as a spoken word artist,
is incredible.
This was the Sunshine Kids first ever live art jaunt. They make killer, beautiful, artistically presented mirrors out of paint, broken pieces of mirrors and glass, toys, light bulbs, and tons of other stuff as well. Nothing but creativity going on there. We also had Riki Johnson doing her thing at the event. She has been producing some gorgeous displays of her work at our shows lately. It’s good to be surrounded by her colorful art and her glowing personality.
We demanded that if Serena Wills was going to move back East, she had to
bring us another beauty, soulful female poet as a replacement. Fortunately,
she was like, “No problem- meet Alexandra Marie”. Love this girl's words to
death. She could be telling you that the world is coming to an end but the
sound of her voice is so comforting, you know when you listen to her that
everything is going to be ok. There was a lot of extraordinary talent there that night, but
David Rodriguez’s performance with Playdough was the highlight of the
evening! Playdough performed another amazing set as he always does. David produced
an 8 foot tall painting right next to him during his set and went for
something a bit different then his normal presentation. When David dipped
both hands into the bucket and starting throwing paint to the beat, we all
lost it. From that point there was a huge crowd gathered to check out the
madness. This was one of the best moments in ArtLoveMagic history.
We'd like to say thanks to the man with the plan, GOAT. He organized the night and did a spectacular job as well on the mic with friends Jack Rabbit and El. This night was blessed. I hope you were a part of it. |
